2018 Goal - 250 Newly Trained BSA Certified Angling Instructors!

04-Jan-2018 10:15 AM | Michael Brand (Administrator)

The National Fishing Task Force has been challenged to train 250 new BSA Certified Angling Instructors in 2018!  We have enthusiastically accepted the challenge, and we are confident that with your support, we can achieve this goal!

As you well know, it takes many casts to land the elusive volunteer.  As such, it is imperative that our team is very intentional about filling these CAI training courses. This will require us all to build awareness of the scheduled national/regional courses, but more importantly making it a priority with your Unit/District/Council leadership to attend.  By doing so, we will help these Scouters reach shared Recruitment and Retention goals.

Your direct support in building awareness of these program offerings is requested.

Also, getting others to assist in the recruitment of participants, is greatly needed.  Specifically, we would request assistance in reaching the following Unit/District/Council Volunteers.

A sample message may be:

Join us for a special weekend workshop version of the new Fishing Camp School training being taught at National BSA Fish Camp Schools.  Attendees will have the opportunity to earn the BSA Certified Angling Instructor recognition.

The course is taught using the EDGE Method, in effort to provide the graduate the tools necessary to design, develop, and provide leadership to BSA fishing programs offered to Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturing Programs at a Unit, District and Council level.

In addition, Certified Angling Instructors are considered to be great candidates for service as Merit Badge Counselors for Fishing, Fly Fishing, as well as Fish and Wildlife Management.

Look forward to seeing you at Training!
