Here are some important updates.
New BSA Fishing Website
If you have recently logged into the bsafishing.com web page, you were redirected to the BSA Outdoor Programs Fishing Page. The new site has some great information, and it will make our CAI program a more integral part of BSA Outdoor Programs.
If you scroll down to the bottom of the main fishing page, you will find that you can sign into the CAI resources page and login with the “FishON!” password. It will take you to the sign-in for our website. Use your personal password to log in. You will be able to find information, look up fellow CAIs and take advantage of training opportunities or preferred pricing on products.
Please do not share FishON! or your sign-in information with anyone else.
Preferred Product Pricing
We happy to report that there are many new items in the BSA Fishing preferred pricing program. Some are available to all Scouters, and some just to CAI’s. You, your unit, and council may take advantage of this special pricing. Most of these items are well below retail.
Your BSA Fishing Team has been hard at work getting outstanding gear at amazing pricing you won’t find elsewhere. Over the next few weeks our updates will be posted. Also, check back frequently for new training dates both in person and via Zoom.
Support your Council’s Fishing Events
If you are not already doing so,, get out with your units and support your council fishing events. Don’t forget that fishing is one of the best recruitment and retention programs we have. As a CAI you are qualified to serve as a Merit Badge Counselor, teach the Angling Educator course and train youth to serve on their summer camp fishing staff. Please work with your council to support fishing!
Run your own CAI course
Want to run your own CAI course? Please fill out the Training Request Form located on the national page at: https://www.scouting.org/outdoor-programs/fishing/cai-resources-page/
Please fill this out prior to running your course and email it to Paul Minenna (firstname.lastname@example.org) and David Lund (email@example.com). If you copy Jim Ridgeway (firstname.lastname@example.org) it can get added to the events calendar to help you with advertising.
2023 National Jamboree
One last important item: we are looking for a large group of Scouters to serve on Fishing and Fly-Fishing Staff at the 2023 National Jamboree. Contact Ben Jelsema, email@example.com. The link to register for the Jamboree is open. When you register, select fishing for all 3 choices.
Until next time, tight lines and Fish ON
